In this class, students will assemble and solder a stained glass holly leaf ornament made from art glass sheets, glass globs, and lead came.
Hosted by The Glassclown, this beginner-friendly workshop will guide students through the labor-intensive craft of stained glass over the course of 4 hours. Students will break and grind glass, bend and form lead came, and learn proper use of a soldering iron.
All skill levels are welcome and encouraged - no prior experience required. Minors ages 14+ may attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
All tools and materials are included. Personal protective equipment (like gloves and glasses) will be available, though you are welcome to bring your own.
Safety warning: This workshop can expose you to chemicals including lead, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
Instructor bio:
Deke Cameron is a self-taught stained glass artisan residing in Central Texas. Deke has been sharing the art of leaded stained glass with anyone who will listen for nearly 10 years. A life-long learner with a passion for teaching, he specializes in custom stained glass panel design and fabrication, as well as restoration and repairs of windows, lampshades, etc.
