Favored Channels presents: Wet Noise
Favored Channels (@favoredchannels), in partnership with Contracommon, presents WET NOISE, taking over Bolm Studios, venue and art studios in East Austin, with an art exhibition, music lineup, vendors and drag. Come with blankets, towels, and swimsuits— we’ll have kiddie pools and drinks to cool you off while you’re drenched in tunes dripping with reverb, cacophony and distortion.
Curated by Sara Aleyce Roma (@chromaglyphs) and Zee Ber (@izziria.co) the exhibition will present Austin artists exploring wet noise as the noise that can’t be held in a vessel, sloshes over the edges, breeds growth, and seeps out of our pores. wet noise as a cathartic release found at the limits of our ability to decode. A submission to incoherence in the face of maximalist imagery, harsh distortion, floods of data, and absurd amalgamations. Asking audiences what should we consider noise vs. signal? Is meaninglessness speaking its own language and playing a melody we just can't hear?
Vendors offer zines, tattoos, baked goods, and chains.
Into the night CUE THE LIGHTS because a selection of the wettest noisiest drag performers will take over.
All this and more tba.
This project is supported in part by the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
