Improve your art practice in this self-guided model session! Bring your favorite materials to work with and study the nude figure. The model will sit for a number of short gestures, followed by one long pose. Drawing boards and easels are available but in limited supply, so be sure to arrive early or bring one along!

Embrace your inner child and play around with a summertime favorite: tie dye! This workshop will cover several classic tie dye patterns and techniques with an emphasis on THE RAINBOW, as well as an overview on how to use color theory within your designs.

This workshop is intended for artists of all ages.

Materials:
2-3 white or light colored fabric (majority cotton) items from home to dye at the event
Plastic grocery bags for transporting dyed items

Students will learn proper technique for linoleum block carving and will have the opportunity to both hand print and use a printing press to create at least one edition of prints. The workshop will guide students through a one-color hand printed linoleum print, and then students will have the option to create a two-color print or two more one-color prints.

Contracommon’s Pride Market will be hosted on the back patio at Double Trouble, a cozy spot for coffee, tacos and drinks in the North Loop neighborhood, on Sunday, June 29th, 2025 from 11am – 3pm. Beat the Monday blues with an eveningtime escape into nature! 

On May 19th, from 5:30-8 at Roy G. Guerrero Park, Morgan Gage (visual artist & locally grown austinite) will be hosting an En Plein Air / Landscape Art Workshop, supported by ContraCommon and the City of Austin Economic Development Department.

This location has many options for subject matter including trees/forests, fields, and our beloved colorado river. The workshop will be FREE, with $5-10 donations welcome.

The Secret Garden is a one-night-only immersive fundraising party blending art, music, and interactive installations. This event will take place May 9th from 7-11pm, serving as an opening reception for our upcoming show Perennials, a group exhibition showcasing creative resilience. A minimum donation of $30 grants you access to delights within, and all proceeds will support Contracommon's mission to provide accessible opportunities for emerging artists.
