Work by Elijah Cuminato

Opening date: March 14th, 2026 β€” Closing date: April 9th, 2026

Elijah Cuminato (b. 2002) is a contemporary painter from Austin, Texas. Known for his use of animal imagery, vibrant colors, and geometric shapes, his interest in abstract illusionism inspires him to create work that examines the relationship between realism and abstraction, and how the two visual concepts can intersect.

He earned a BFA in Studio Arts with a concentration in painting from Texas State University in 2025. The themes of his artwork explore what happens when abstraction coincides with realism by exploring concepts such as space, shadow, and color.

Through a partnership with the Hill Country Galleria, Contracommon operates an experimental gallery space, which provides affordable workspace for emerging artists, and access to facilities to support artists’ professional practices.
