Join us at Contracommon for a hands-on lesson in developing your own film!
In this two-hour workshop, instructor Chelsea Wyld will lead each student through the process of developing of one roll of film. Students should bring a roll of film captured themselves. All other materials provided, including C-41 developer.
With over a decade of experience in both photography printing and arts education, Chelsea is ready to help you develop your film developing skills.
Required materials:
Please bring one roll of already exposed, undeveloped 35mm color negative (C-41) film to process during the workshop.
Examples include Kodak Gold, Kodak Ultramax, Kodak Portra, and Fujifilm color negative films with an iso of 100, 200 or 400.
Black-and-white, disposable cameras, and slide (E-6) film are not suitable for this class.
Instructor bio:
Chelsea Wyld is the founder and owner of Wyld Prints, a business focused on traditional film photography and hand-printed darkroom work. Chelsea brings over 12 years of experience in film photography, darkroom printing, and creative arts education, providing a strong foundation for leading engaging workshops with participants of varying skill levels. A 2014 graduate from The Art Institute with a Bachelor of Arts in Photography, she specializes in analog photographic processes, including film development and silver gelatin printing, with a focus on preserving and sharing traditional darkroom techniques. Over the years, she has exhibited work through galleries and local art markets while fostering an appreciation for handmade photography. All this while making time for one-on-one instruction from a personal darkroom in Austin, teaching film development, printing, and darkroom fundamentals.
