Contracommon’s fourth annual Summer Arts Festival is a day-long festival celebrating local arts and community–featuring 45+ creative vendors, 5 live music acts, and free art activities in the Children’s Art Garden. The festival will take place on May 25th, from 2pm to 8pm, on the Hill Country Galleria’s central plaza. Attendance is completely free of charge! This festival directly supports the emerging artists and makers of Central Texas by connecting them with a huge community of art lovers throughout west Austin and the Hill Country. Donations to our organization are welcome and appreciated, to help continue making events like this possible.

This year’s Summer Arts Festival will be held at the unofficial start of the season, Memorial Day Weekend, in hopes of beating those hot summer temperatures. Attendees are also welcome to visit our indoor gallery space, where Contracommon’s Juried Regional Exhibition of emerging Central Texas artists will be on view. The exhibition will run from April 22 to June 3rd, 2024, with the Summer Arts Festival serving as a closing event. A panel of jurors local to the Central Texas arts community–including Richard Samuel, Leah Bury, Mónica Ceniceros, and Jules Buck Jones–will select 10-15 artists to be included in the exhibition.

Community is one of the central principles of Contracommon. We are proud to offer these opportunities for all: artists & jurors participating in the exhibition, vendors & musicians participating in the festival, members of our studios, and our audience of attendees who make the event worthwhile. The Summer Arts Festival is our biggest event of the year. We rely on the support of our community members and sponsors to produce events like this—completely free for everyone to attend. We have a variety of levels of sponsorship and ad space available for local businesses and organizations, with many volunteer opportunities leading up to and during the festival also.

Each year at the Summer Arts Festival, C/C hosts a variety of local creatives and creative businesses from the Central Texas region. We welcome artists and makers of all kinds to apply as a pop-up vendor for this year’s festival.

JURIED
REGIONAL EXHIBITION

In conjunction with our fourth annual festival, C/C has announced a regional call for artists working in any media within a 100 mile radius of our space for a juried group exhibition.

The exhibition will run from April 22 to June 3, 2024.
