Feral: Unruly, Ungovernable, Alive

Contracommon is proud to feature TheGalleryATX and their group exhibition, Feral: Unruly, Ungovernable, Alive,and accompanying zine release of Mujer Manifesto: FERAL.⁠ TheGalleryATX empowers underrepresented artists in Central Texas through community, collaboration, and creative exploration. Feral: Unruly, Ungovernable, Alive will be on view in the Contracommon gallery from August 16th through September 14th, 2025. 
“To be Feral is to exist beyond domestication, beyond the constraints of obedience or optimization. It is a return to instinct, a refusal to conform, a celebration of rawness in a world increasingly smoothed and standardized. ⁠This is more than a show—it’s a reclamation. A howl. A gathering of artists and creators refusing to be tamed.⁠ ” 

Participating artists include: Alex Ward, Ari Borazjanian, Asenette Ruiz, Cynthia Kahn,  Deferred Salvation, Jordan Alyse, Kate Nuelle, Kylie Sivley, Laura Blewitt, Alexa Frazier, Mari G Hernandez, Sabina Guardado, and Sofia Canestaro. 

Contracommon is an artist-run nonprofit arts space that focuses on supporting emerging artists’ professional development in a collaborative setting. Through a partnership with the Hill Country Galleria, Contracommon operates an experimental gallery space, provides affordable workspace to emerging artists and access to facilities to support artists’ practices. 

The exhibition will open on Saturday, August 16th from 7-11pm. The gallery is open Friday through Sunday from 12pm – 6pm, with private viewing appointments available Monday - Thursday upon request at calendly.com/contracommon.
